CASE SUMMARY

With Halloween comes celebrating some of the most iconic movie scenes. Sadly, the horror and violence lurking in FCB’s Halloween-inspired spot for YWCA Montreal is real, and represents the everyday experience of women facing domestic abuse. The 30-second spot begins with a woman rushing to escape a house in the middle of the night. She races to the car, gets in but can’t seem to get it started. Meanwhile, through the window, a figure exits the house and begins walking towards her with an obscured object in hand. It ends with her breaking down in tears and the words: “For certain women, the horror film lasts all year.”
